Purple tangs are hardy and beautiful! They can get a bit aggressive as they grow, so bear that in mind when deciding on stocking order for your aquarium. Even though they're not as prone to parasites as some of their tang brethren, they are more prone to HLLE. HLLE is not contagious and the scars generally clear up over time with improved water quality.
As with all tangs, they require regular feedings of seaweed to maintain a healthy immune system and to curb aggression.
